Grow primary foods needed for good plant-based nutrition organically and sustainably

Maintain a viable seed bank limited to 50 varieties of organic heirloom and open-pollinated plants

Preserve food by multiple methods to take advantage of abundant seasonal crops and to prepare for emergencies

Prepare most meals from the pantry and without undue reliance on modern appliances

Manage water sources and storage for consumption, washing, and irrigation requirements

Use alternative energy sources, such as solar or wind

Maintain a sufficient inventory of supplies and appropriate technology, mostly manual and hand tools

Remain agile and mobile with the ability to relocate and/or expand operations

Build a library of knowledge in support of goals and objectives
